Brooke

Well, since my last post we have had a whirlwind of issues at our house. My little girl Brooke has been diagnosed with MRSA Staph. The doctor is telling us it all is connected to the pneumonia she had twice last month. About 3 weeks ago we started noticing what looked to be a diaper rash. We had the dr look at it when we were at her check up and he said it was just a yeast diaper rash. Well, last Friday she had a spot on her thigh that started out looking just like the rest of the rash but had almost tripled in size within a couple of hours. It was very red and painful. We took her back in and that started a mommy's panic. The dr told us it was a staph infection and to put a topical cream on it. It got worse by Sunday and we were back in the dr's office. This time he put Brooke on an oral antibiotic. Still not much change and we were back in his office on Tues. This time he took a culture and sure enough it came back positive for MRSA. We have managed to keep her out of the hospital because she is responding to the oral medicine. She has to be on antibiotic for the next couple weeks and the knot under the skin may be there for another two months. Her immune system is way down so that is another concern. We have had so many payers and are very thankful to everyone for thinking of us and offering to help out any way possible. We are very blessed in so many ways.

Thankfully, Allison has managed to stay healthy. She is getting so big and is so funny when she is trying to take care of Brooke. I only wish I would have been able to get her on video when she was trying to help Brooke walk last week. It was very comical. She was holding Brooke's sore leg and telling her to hop on the other. She is such a good big sister.

I think for the time being that is all I have to report. I know i still need to add some pictures.

First entry

So I finally decided to check out this blogging thing after I kept seeing my friends blogs. It is a pretty cool idea.

Anyway, I just turned 31 this past year and have been married to my husband Mike just over 4 years now. We have two wonderful children. Alli just turned 3 and Brooke will be 2 in March. Time sure goes fast. It seems like just yesterday I was in the hospital with Alli.

I work for George Koch Sons and have been there for a year and a half. Mike works for the Vanderburgh Co. Sheriff's Dept. He is a narcotics Canine detective. He enjoys it so much. He has been in this position almost 2 years now but has been on the dept for 6 years.

Alli and Brooke are 15 months apart and for the most part get along very well. Now they are starting to really play well together. They still have their moments just like any sibling. Last night Brooke took a wood trash can and hit Alli in the head busting open her forehead. Alli is fine (no stitches) but has a nice bruise, bump and gash.

We just made it through and ice and snow storm which knocked out thousands of families power. We did loose power for about three days and set up camp at my parents house. We were lucky that it was only 3 days. Some families were without power for over a week.

Anyway, I guess for my first post that is enough. I will try and post some pictures soon.
